While students and staff are enjoying a well-deserved summer break, exciting changes are happening across East Holmes Local Schools. Crews are hard at work at Berlin Elementary, Chestnut Ridge Elementary, and Hiland Middle and High School as phase two of the district's Phased Classroom Renovation Project gets underway.
Building on the success of last summer's renovations at Mt. Hope and Winesburg, this year's improvements will enhance existing facilities while preserving the small, close-knit school communities that make East Holmes unique. Through years of careful financial planning, funds were intentionally set aside for these improvements, allowing the district to move forward without requiring a ballot measure.
Construction crews have made impressive progress during the first week of work. At Berlin, demolition is underway throughout the building, wood floors are being refinished, office renovations have begun, and electrical upgrades are preparing classrooms for new lighting. At Chestnut Ridge and Hiland, demolition and cleaning are moving quickly, electrical work is underway, and new ceiling grid systems are already being installed.
The early progress is a great example of what can be accomplished when an entire district works together toward a shared goal. East Holmes Local Schools looks forward to sharing additional updates throughout the summer as these exciting transformations continue to take shape.
