Principal's Message

Welcome to our Winesburg School website. I hope you find it is helpful in learning about our school.

Winesburg Elementary serves 170 K-6 students. We have two kindergarten classes that meet all day, every other day. We have two sections of first grades, two sections of second grade, and one section of 3 rd through 6 th grades. Special services include Art, Music, Phys. Ed., Enrichment, Library, Title I, and lunchroom services.

Our theme is “Good learners, good people.” We want to do all we can to encourage good learning at our school. We also want to make sure we are becoming good people. Our “CharacterFirst!” program helps us work at this goal.

This is the fifth year Winesburg has been an OhioReads school. This state grant has allowed us to incorporate a reading mentoring program utilizing community volunteers. It has also helped us improve our reading motivational program, “ReadingCounts!” We have also been able to develop an outstanding guided reading library and improve our classroom libraries.

I am proud of our staff, students, parents, and community. I feel it is a privilege to work with such great people.
