The Hiland High School Varsity Singers traveled to Jackson High School on Friday, April 26 to perform for OMEA State Large Group Adjudicated Events. Varsity Singers performed in Class AA (highest classification) for this event. They performed three choral selections for three OMEA adjudicators in the Jackson Center for the Performing Arts and sight-read a Class AA choral piece utilizing the vocal music literacy system, solfege, for an additional OMEA adjudicator. We received 'Straight Superior (1) Ratings' from all four OMEA adjudicators, the highest possible rating an ensemble can achieve at this event. We received an OMEA State plaque that will join the other OMEA state plaques on the new 'OMEA State wall' in the Hiland Choir Room.
The students gave a truly remarkable, memorable, and heartfelt performance and invested their bodies, minds, and souls into every millisecond of the performance. This performance will ring in our hearts and souls forever. I am proud of the students beyond any words. A reactive and instant standing ovation followed our performance with many glowing reviews/comments from adjudicators, audience members from our community, Jackson High School faculty/students/community members, and many others. We had an outstanding representation of parents and community members in the audience!
